In today’s marketplace, branding and social media are definitely two of the most important parts of running a successful business. However, the tricky part comes when trying to combine the two. So, to help you get off to a good start, here are three tips for branding your business’s social media pages to ensure that you keep brand uniformity across all marketing mediums.
1. Get your colours right
The first step in branding social media is getting your brand colours onto your pages. Your company colour palette is very important as psychologically we associate colours to brands so keep to the branding guidelines and ensure that it matches with your logo etc… Depending on which social media platform you’re working on, the ease with which you will be able to do this can vary. However, one thing that we can say for certain is that it is extremely important to ensure that you use the right colours, and that you keep it consistent. Your branding colours shouldn’t just be red and blue, for example, but specific shades of each or pantone colours, so make sure you use these on your social media pages.
2. Tie in your social media presence with some printed media products
Although much of your social media branding process will take place online, you can also use printed products, like leaflets and business card printing, to strengthen your social media brand. By printing the link to your social media pages on printed leaflets, business cards, direct mail, brochures, and other printed products that your business produces, you’re helping your customers associate your brand with your social media pages, which can only be a good thing. You could also use a QR code, which will take your customers directly to your Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram page. Remember all mediums of marketing should align whether that is social media or printed media and form a cross channel marketing strategy to compound your marketing message.
3. Use hashtags
Hashtags are integral to branding social media pages. Firstly, they allow you to get the message and values of your brand across to your followers in bitesize, easily digestible chunks, and are easy to remember as these are your buzz words. Secondly, they create consistency across multiple social media platforms. For example, if you’re posting content on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, all with the same hashtags, your content is easily recognisable to your readers, who will then associate your separate social media accounts with one another. This kind of consistency is a key element of any social media strategy, so don’t underestimate it.
